At Tidyish, we believe every space can be both fun and functional! We recently had the privilege of working with a fun family and turned their playroom into an organized oasis for creativity and play.
The challenge? Arts, crafts, toys, games, and puzzles all competing for attention — but no real order. With a little strategy and a lot of care, we transformed the room into a tidy, inspiring space for kids and parents alike.
Step 1: Sorting and Decluttering First, we dove into sorting everything. We separated arts and crafts supplies, games, puzzles, and toys into distinct piles. This helped identify toys no longer being used, toys and games the kids had outgrown. We were able to donate several items they were ready to part with, as well as store a few sentimental items they wanted to set aside for future generations.
Step 2: Smart Storage Solutions Next, we implemented clever storage systems that made everything accessible while keeping the room tidy. Hyacinth labeled bins became our best friend to hold toys and smaller games. Arts and crafts supplies were put in clearly labeled sturdy but light bins to easily access. Larger games and puzzles went into their cabinet shelves making them easy to pull out and put away.
Step 3: Designated Zones We created functional storage zones within the room: one area for arts and crafts, another for games, puzzles, and toys This not only made the space feel more organized but also encouraged the kids to interact with each area in a more structured way. One of our favorite parts is a labeled “current project” area that allows flexibility for whatever art project is currently being created.
Step 4: Displaying Creativity Lastly, we left room for creativity to shine. It was important to this family to display their kid’s creativity so we left the top 2 bookshelves open to display kids’ artwork, and sentimental items that spark fun family memories!
The result? A functional, visually pleasing playroom that encourages both play and imagination without the chaos. With Tidyish’s organizing touch, the playroom is now a space where everything has a place and where creativity can flourish.
